While the country is slowly opening back up, little by little, being able to go to big live events in person is still a while off. If you’re missing things like live gigs, festivals and theatre as much as we are, you’ll be stoked to see the list of live stream events coming up that are *almost* as good as the real thing.
Untitled Virtual Day Party #2
Remember the thrill of rolling in to a festival early, dancing with mates, and feeling the bass rock through you in front of huge stages with world class music acts and partying late into the night? Well, Untitled Virtual Day Party #2 is about as close as you’ll get to that at the moment, just without the huge queues for the toilet, the expensive ride home and the possibility of losing your phone in the mosh pit. Turn up the volume on your computer as loud as your neighbours will allow and party with Hayden James, DJ BORING, Lastlings and more incredible Australian artists streaming live from iconic landmarks such as the Old Melbourne Gaol. To help get you into the party mood, we’ve partnered with Red Bull to give you a great deal on our Big Night In pack, which is a bottle of Absolut Vodka and a 4 pack of Redbull for just $48.99 by entering the code BIGNIGHTIN at checkout. This offer is valid from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May. We’ll deliver it in 30 minutes, and let’s be honest, you probably would have had to line up for longer than that to get to the bar at a festival!
Stan Original Australian Lockdown Comedy Festival
This whole pandemic thing meant so many events that have run every year for decades had to be cancelled, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and more. It’s so fun to spend a night out at these festivals, taking in a few shows – household names that you know and love, and then taking a punt on someone you’ve never heard of! Stan has curated 4 episodes of sets from some of your favourite Aussie comedians like Dave Hughes, Wil Anderson and Cal Wilson, as well as some emerging talent like Demi Lardner, Blake Freeman and Lauren Bonner. It’s awesome to see Stan supporting the comedy scene in this way. Comedians have worked so hard on their shows for this year, and it’s only fair that we get to see the fruits of their labour! Why not order a six pack of Aussie beer like Wild Yak Pacific Ale, switch off the lights, and you’ll feel like you’re at a dark, underground comedy club!
The Lockdown Monologues by The Malthouse Theatre
After cancelling the remainder of their 2020 season, the respected Malthouse Theatre has pivoted to create original theatre pieces to stream online. Strange, funny, brutal and profound, these will be 9 monologues telling the extraordinary stories of 9 people during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are hoping that these will act as a kind of creative historical document, capturing this moment in time in a way that only theatre can. Order yourself something fancy like Covielle Sparkling or Heritage House Shiraz and get dressed to the nines, and it’ll be almost as if you’re at the opening night at the theatre!
