Social Distancing Ideas

Things are getting real with this Global Pandemic. Have you heard about it?

You’re probably working from home (we are!), trying to keep your distance from others and only heading out when it’s totally necessary. Social distancing is taking some getting used to, so we’ve come up with a bunch of things you can do to get you through it, without losing your cool!

Jigsaw Puzzles

It’s great to have an activity you can get really engrossed in in times like this. Jigsaw puzzles have the power to draw people in, an amazing way to distract and preoccupy frustrated minds for hours. You won’t want to get up and start scrolling through the news until you find… just… one… more… piece. And if you finish one, why not arrange a (low-contact) swap with a friend who has another jigsaw they’ve completed? Just remember to wash your hands.

Keep a routine

It’s important to keep a routine if you want to stay productive and motivated. This means having a shower and getting dressed in the morning even though you won’t be leaving the house. But it also means keeping up with the fun parts of your routine. Just because you’re working from home doesn’t mean you don’t get to have knock off drinks at the end of the day! Why not set up a video conference with your colleagues and all crack a beer or have a glass of Jolly Trotter, just like you would if you were in the office! If you’ve already run out of supplies, you can order wine beer and spirits from Jimmy Brings, and we’ll deliver them cold and ready to drink in 30 minutes.

Catch up on TV

Obviously there’s plenty of amazing new shows streaming right now (Love is Blind, anyone?) but this is a great time to go back and watch something you’ve meant to watch for years but never got around to. Have you been telling people you’ve seen “bits and pieces” of The Wire, even though it’s an outright lie? Do you regularly mistake references from The Sopranos for The Godfather? WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BREAKING BAD?! You get the picture. Curl up on the couch, crack open a bottle of Arcadian Tryst and dive into something with a good 7 season stretch ahead of you, because no one knows how long this thing is going to last!

When you’re cooped up at home, it can be quite confronting to see how much the mess has accumulated around you. This is a great time to get to the bottom of the laundry basket, INCLUDING the weird hand wash only jumper that has been in there since last winter. Why don’t you actually just sort out your pots and pans so they don’t fall out every single time you open the cupboard? Pop on some headphones and rock out while you vacuum every inch of your house! We highly recommend making this seem like more of a treat and less of a chore by doing it with a bottle of Covielle or a gin and tonic.
